Concord and the surrounding Cabarrus County area give us larger lots and room for full backyard programs — pools, pavilions, outdoor kitchens and turf areas — plus plenty of grading and drainage work on newer subdivisions.
One project lead manages the whole build from first walkthrough to final walkthrough, and the field work is carried out by vetted crews we have used for years — excavation, masonry, carpentry, concrete, pools, lighting, turf and planting. You deal with one company, one schedule and one point of contact. We are licensed and fully insured, and we take on residential and commercial property alike.

Concord Permitting
Concord is one of the few towns in our service area that runs its own building inspections rather than routing them through a county department. That changes who you submit to and how long review takes, so it is worth knowing before you plan a patio, wall or pool.
Concord is not under Mecklenburg County Code Enforcement. Building permits and inspections for property inside the city limits run through the City of Concord's Planning & Development Services team, which handles everything from initial site review to final permits and inspections (City of Concord Building Inspections). Property just outside the city limits falls to Cabarrus County instead — we confirm which applies to your address before quoting.
Under the North Carolina Residential Code (R404.4), a retaining wall holding more than 48 inches of unbalanced fill must be designed to resist overturning, sliding, foundation pressure and water uplift, and a wall over 4 feet of unbalanced backfill has to be designed by a registered design professional. Walls that cross a property line need an engineer at any height. Walls are designed to a safety factor of 1.5 against sliding and overturning (NC Residential Code R404.4). Many Concord back yards sit on graded subdivision lots where a single tall wall would trigger this — stepping it into two shorter terraces is often cheaper than engineering one tall one.
Concord runs a Recognized Neighborhoods program, and a number of the larger communities here carry their own architectural guidelines on top of city rules. If your HOA has to approve materials or a structure, we will put the material list and drawings together in the format they ask for.
Highland Creek · Christenbury · Downtown Concord · Afton Village area · Weddington Road corridor and the rest of Concord and Cabarrus County. If you are not sure whether your address falls inside the Concord limits or in unincorporated Cabarrus County, tell us the street and we will confirm which office your permit goes through.
Common Questions
A ground-level paver patio with no roof, no walls and no electrical usually does not need a building permit, but anything attached to the house, covered, wired for power, or built with a tall retaining wall generally does. Because Concord runs its own inspections department rather than using a county office, we confirm the requirement for your specific address before the quote is finalized.
For property inside the Concord city limits it is the City of Concord's Planning & Development Services team, not Mecklenburg County and not Cabarrus County. Addresses outside the city limits go through Cabarrus County. We verify which one covers your parcel before any work is scheduled.
The North Carolina Residential Code requires a registered design professional to design any retaining wall holding more than 4 feet of unbalanced backfill, any wall that supports a building, and any wall crossing a property line regardless of height. On a lot with a real grade change, two stepped 3-foot walls are often less expensive overall than one engineered 6-foot wall.
Yes, and a large share of our Concord work is exactly that — larger lots in places like Highland Creek and Christenbury where the builder left a graded yard, thin topsoil and a small slab. That work usually starts with grading and drainage before any hardscape goes in.
We are based in Cornelius and Concord sits inside our regular working radius — the same crews, the same standards, and no travel surcharge.
