Fire Pits & Outdoor Fireplaces in Cornelius, NC
Wood-burning and gas fire features — stone fireplaces with chimneys, built-in fire pits, fire tables and surrounding seating.
Fire Pits & Fireplaces built for Cornelius properties
Cornelius is home base for Andrew's Landscaping. Many Cornelius properties sit on or near Lake Norman shoreline, with sloped lots that drop toward the water, HOA review on The Peninsula and in other planned neighborhoods, and wind-exposed yards that need careful material choices.
A fireplace is a masonry structure, not an accessory. We pour a footing, build the firebox and chimney to draft correctly, line it with firebrick, and face it in stone or brick that matches your hardscape. The result throws heat, vents smoke away from the seating area, and becomes the anchor the rest of the patio is designed around.
Fire pits are faster and just as usable. Wood-burning versions get a steel or masonry liner; gas versions get a burner, key valve and safe gas run installed before the hardscape closes up. We build the seating walls, patio and lighting around the feature so the whole area works as one space after dark.

Common Questions
Fire Pits & Fireplaces in Cornelius: FAQs
Do you offer fire pits & outdoor fireplaces in Cornelius, NC?
Yes. Cornelius is part of our regular service area from our base in Cornelius, NC. We work in The Peninsula, Jetton Road, Antiquity, Smithville and the Bailey Road corridor, and every project gets a free on-site visit and a written quote.
Do I need a permit for fire pits & outdoor fireplaces in Cornelius?
Gas lines and permanent masonry fireplaces usually need a permit, and wood-burning fire pits must follow local burn rules. Cornelius handles zoning and land-use review, while building permits run through Mecklenburg County Code Enforcement. We confirm the requirements for your address before work starts.
Do you work on lakefront properties in Cornelius?
Yes. Lakefront lots in Cornelius often have steep grades toward the water, and work within the shoreline buffer may need approval from Duke Energy Lake Services and the local planning office. We plan erosion control, drainage and access before work starts.
How soon can you start a project in Cornelius?
We usually schedule the on-site visit within a few days of your call. Start dates depend on the season, the size of the job and any HOA or permit approvals, and we give you a clear schedule window in your written quote.
Gas or wood-burning?
Gas turns on instantly and makes no mess; wood gives real heat, crackle and cooking. We build both, and can run gas to a wood-look burner if you want the middle ground.
How close can a fire pit be to the house or a pergola?
There are clearance requirements that depend on the feature and structure. We plan placement to meet them — that is part of the layout work, not an afterthought.
Can a fire feature be added to an existing patio?
Yes. We open the area, pour the footing, build the feature and reset the surrounding pavers so the patio looks untouched.
